"Atlantic Queens"

This film is about 45 minutes or so long, but offers a splendid look at the Queen Mary in 1956. Areas visited include many of the ship's magnificent First Class areas, but also the bridge, engine and boiler rooms. Captain Donald Sorrell is also interviewed and discusses how he famously docked the Mary without the use of tugs during a strike in New York.

All in all, it is an amazing little film!

"Titanic II"

Firstly, I hope my little prank from yesterday caused a smile or two (as well some confused looks).

Secondly, though, I thought I'd talk about a direct-to-DVD film called "Titanic II."

No, this is not a prank. It's not April Fools' Day + 1.

The film centers around a brand new Titanic (that has been outfitted with modern safety features) and her maiden voyage across the Atlantic. A tsunami subsequently pushes an iceberg into the ship's path, causing history to repeat itself.

Many people believed that this was indeed a sequel to James Cameron's "Titanic," but quickly found out otherwise. "Titanic II" has since been labled a mockbuster.

"Mr. Ocean Liner"

Although the Oscars have now passed, I do feel the urge to post just one more trailer. But not about a specific ship though. Bill Miller is known throughout the maritime community as "Mr. Ocean Liner," and what I found here is a preview on a documentary about him.
